VICKIE BARRET
I am a creative nonfiction writer and journalist. I spent over a decade at Forbes Magazine profiling technology and business leaders, and the trends that shape our economy and lives. During that time I was also a weekly guest on the roundtable debate show, Forbes on Fox.
It was the chance discovery of a sealed envelope filled with family letters that led me to explore the deeper themes of life in my writing: inheritance, motherhood, identity, secrets, and love.
My more recent works have been published in Zibby Media, Literary Mama, Huffington Post, and Brevity.
I have had the honor and great pleasure of studying with wonderful author-teachers including Dani Shapiro, Hannah Tinti, Rick Russo and Katie Bannon, and have attended the prestigious Sirenland writing conference. I am a member of the Page Street writing community in San Francisco. Every fall, a highlight for me is coaching high school seniors applying to college on how to tell their unique stories.
